In the framework of the lecture “Genres/Periods of American literature: Narrative Didactics and Digital Storytelling in American Culture” a workshop called “Introducing Digital Stories – Methods and Approaches” was held on October 12, 2021 at the Center for Inter-American Studies at the University of Graz. Andreas Schuch introduced the background and basic steps involved in the process of creating a Digital Story. It was emphasized that Digital Storytelling can be used in a very broad field and is not just meant for students with a teaching background, but for students from various fields, such as literature. Therefore, the students of English literature had to create a Digital Story by choosing a narrative such a novel, a game or a narrative poem to produce a creative digital story about part of that narrative. The overall theme of the Digital Story should relate to one of the topics of belonging, generations or friendship. A total of 9 Digital Stories were created, which were discussed and interpreted one month later in class together with Roberta Maierhofer, Nicole Haring and Andreas Schuch. (Text by Eva Bauer)
